Cough cough everyone!

The phrase 'cough cough me, cough cough you' is rife in our household currently. The children have not been amused with their colds, the change in their voices and steady stream from their noses.

Interestingly for the first day both girls veered towards their sketch pads, over their amazon ipads. Sophia was drawing profusely, it made a refreshing change that whenever she made a mistake it didn't mean another page was added to half a tree on the school room floor.

Kira was very unhappy with her hoarse voice and took to writing notes to covey her displeasure. She wrote 'a good or a bad can happen' and 'bad day ever'.

Xander was his usual self in hospital, merely attached to a drip for precautionary antibiotics. He stated his wishes to the nurses in terms of his toys very firmly and they were lovely to oblige the little prince with Lego, cars, vans, an educational school bus, and role play tiny town. This kept his attention for hours, as did his education apps on his ipad.

On the one morning he was able to stretch his legs he insisted on sweeping and mopping the room instead of the cleaner. His declaration of 'I can help you doctor' as he relieved her of her cleaning instruments melted her heart. She actually guessed he was home educated by his manners and willingness to help. She wanted to do nothing more than home educate her children but with no adult working at home it sadly hasn't worked out.

The girls had to adjust very quickly to us being whisked away to hospital with no warning, which is far from easy on them when they like routine and stability. They were absolute troopers and as Daddy still had to work from home for a couple of hours they set to work creating an adventure for Daddy in the living room for when he finished.

Sophia wrote a loving invitation for the door and he was invited in. There was an aeroplane in the airport to pilot him through dinosaur land to his own personal resturant, as they knew he wouldn't want to cook after work for himself after losing us so unexpectedly. They set up  with their role play food so they could feed him (before he fed them for real).

Hopefully this shows we are raising our children to be emphatic towards others and to serve sometimes rather than to demand to be served. Considering they're all ill at the moment their actions meant the world to both of us and made us very proud.
