Cafe experience for one

What do you do when only one child is well enough to eat breakfast but is feeling lonely?

You create a Cafe experience naturally.

I became a waitress in an instance conjuring up a table setting with a garden view. Kira's face was already lighting up.

I ushered her busily towards her chair and asked her to make her order for breakfast.... It was banana and chocolate smoothie with plain porridge.

Xander was standing by the French windows, giving the weather forecast and telling her about the rain cycle, while I was preparing the food.

She was cold so I draped her coat over her shoulders and said her wish was my command. She was chuckling happily by this point. I put on the tap, aimed it on to an upside plate and the spray looked like a fountain, which got a full belly laugh from her.

She then wanted to go to the bathroom, I officially escorted her there. Xander then was being naughty and closing the door on her, so I intervened and he went off to play upstairs.

Kira asked if he was 'unhired'. I replied, 'Also known as fired. You hire someone and sometimes they can be fired if they've been really naughty'.

She had a think about it and said 'Well Mummy, I think it was just a mistake on Xander's part, I should always be nice and polite to my parents so I should be nice and polite to everyone, so he needs to be hired again'.

That's our kind hearted little girl!

I then capitalised on the unexpected lesson here that she should always be respectful to wait staff, to be polite, patient and help them as much as they are helping us.

She said she would do and then asked me how much her food was, because she couldn't leave without paying. I said two tickets please, so she paid and I asked her to review her experience. She gave me 5000 stars out of five....and the content for a post.

Yes it meant that breakfast for one child took half an hour longer than usual, but with Sophia in bed and Xander playing along with us, it wasn't an issue, making little Miss feel special. There was lots of laughing and she ate all her breakfast.
