Imaginative Exercise

The children wanted to watch exercise videos on YouTube from 6am, note that I said watch.... we were all cuddled on the sofa under blankets together just watching the entertaining footage for the first few.

Eventually the girls emerged and completed a few different platform game run throughs, where they run, zig zag, jump and crouch to mimic what's happening on screen. They particularly love running along a game play through with Ryan Worlds - Tag with Ryan (which is just something they came up with, it's not an exercise one). Ryan's World does have several official exercise videos with Ryan and mum which are firm favourites too.

We then switched to this years educationplaylistt. They sang gustily along with Jack Hartmann's 'Spanish colours' several times and then move on to maths. They were shouting out the answers to videos on comparing numbers, adding and subtraction, and the concept of money. They sang along to multiples of two and five, and number pairs for the number eight.

Sophia then caught sight of an English video that she wanted to watch, Jack Hartmans 'the four rules to follow when making a sentence'. She was excitedly shouting out the answers (despite the fact it was a song).

Xander then watched songs about the weather and body parts, happily banging on the window whenever the phrase 'let's look outside, hows the weather today' was sung, and pointing to the corresponding body parts along with the song.

This half an hour session woke the girls up enough to want to go to on the school room and craft, so we all settled into having some fun.

Roll on to breakfast time where the girls were busy collecting the ingredients needed for a banana and chocolate milkshake, whilst I sorted the blender. A filling breakfast of salmon, cheese, cereal, porridge and milkshake followed.

I heard bricks crashing from their basket by Sophia whilst I was waiting for Xander to finish breakfast. By the time we had rejoined the girls Sophia had made a 'duplo city', with two houses and neighbours with pets, and a grass area, white changing area, sand and the sea. Kira made a tower almost as tall as herself whilst she was watching Blippi on the farm, seeing how various vegetables and fruits grow.

We've had some great weather this week so it was soon garden time. Xander has loved being able to play in the garden again now he's regaining his strength. He's just so happy to be home.

We currently have two swings, a trapeze bar, a punching bag, a slide and a sea saw and a range of hoops, balls and scooters outside, and a climbing frame inside the house. Exercising is an important part of their learning experience, we want them to be aware of the vital need to keep fit and healthy, and get it into their routine from an early age.

Additionally they have a friend next door who is a similar age to them and she plays with them in the garden most day, it is great to see them running relays, and chasing after each other. She shows off her pet rabbit and new toys on a regular basis, whilst Sophia chats ten to a dozen to her at every given moment.

In between housework I was outside, taking it in turns to carry a child whilst jogging round the garden, pretending to be a train driver whilst the other two were carriages following me. Kira then turned into a pirate, who was using an empty card roll as a sword, capturing one of us, whilst the other two were fighting her off. There was a lot of laughing, shrieking and shouting.... The neighbours started to close their back doors so we headed in to have morning snacks and randomly made some blackberry jam with dad.

The daily reading session was satisfying, Sophia and I started reading 9a Peter and Jane 'Games we like!', while Kira happily read another of her 'Farm stories'.

Spelling time turned into a spontaneous musical, Sophia made up a song about the 'At' family and proved that she knows how to spell at, bat, cat, fat, hat, mat, nat, pat, rat, sat, vat. We had a fun fifteen minutes making up daft spelling songs. It worked and it really made us laugh, a fun way to review spellings.

It was great to share another day with you all, hope you have a lovely day/evening.
